Brief description:

With its adaptive approach, Netlution is developing a Special Managed Service for one of Europe’s largest retail groups. A team of experts tailored precisely to the task extends an 8×5 operating service to 24/7 (service with on-call) – with a net capacity of just 2.5 FTEs.

Situation:

For a retail group with > 300,000 employees and an environment size > 100 database clusters and over 500 databases, Netlution is responsible for the trouble-free 24/7 operation of the MS SQL environment with a customized team of experts.

Customer request:

The Microsoft SQL server infrastructure, which had previously been operated independently with 8/5 support, was to be transferred to a 24/7 managed service – as economically as possible.

Challenges:

In order to be able to provide a dedicated 24×7 service including standby in a highly complex environment, 5-6 IT specialists are required, all of whom know the operating environment and are continuously familiar with it. However, the tasks in regular operation only result in a net capacity requirement of 2.5 FTEs. A solution had to be found for this.

The project started in 2014 and is currently ongoing.
